Job Description

Overview

UH-60 Aircraft Mechanic AM-I (Powertrain) Prop & Rotor - Barstow-Daggett, CA. Inspects and performs maintenance on aircraft powertrain systems and components according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Removes, replaces, and installs powertrain quills, transmissions adapting parts, rotary wing hub and subcomponents.
  • Disassembles friction dampers and hanger assemblies.
  • Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, adjusts, balances and aligns powertrain components, systems and subsystems including main and tail rotor hub assemblies according to directives.
  • Applies corrosion preventative procedures.
  • Cleans, preserves, and stores powertrain components.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on ground support equipment, and tools.
  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in performing scheduled and special inspections.
  • Requisitions bench stock for repair of powertrain systems and subcomponents; prepares requests for turn-ins and repair parts and powertrain components; prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft; maintains supplies and performs preventive maintenance; may perform additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.
  • Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training on the UH-60 is desired; certification of education level is required.
  • Valid FAA A&P Certificate is preferred (optional).
  • Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 Blackhawk MDS.
  • Two (2) years of documented Prop and Rotor hands-on experience on the UH-60 Blackhawk or a valid FAA A&P certificate.
  • Experience must be within the six most recent years.
  • Valid Drivers License is required.
  • Mechanics must provide their own tools/toolbox, etched with PID and shadowed for each tool (toolbox requirements provided by recruiter).
  • Shift work required; must be willing and able to work any shift under the Union CBA (day, swing, night, weekend as applicable).
  • Must be eligible to obtain a valid US Passport and be able to travel internationally for operational requirements (OCONUS work sites).
Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Clearance and facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft powertrain systems and subsystems and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press, and MAC tools.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information System.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and meet project schedules.
  • Ability to inspect required aeronautical maintenance for powertrain mechanics; may lead teams and make entries in aircraft logs and records as needed.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods; climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands; crouch, crawl, grasp, and manipulate objects; use dexterity and reach overhead.
  • May lift/push/pull objects over 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to type and communicate via e-mail and software applications; handle dirty parts and lubricants; wear PPE; pass a respirator physical and fit test.
  • May operate power vehicles, machinery, tools, ground support equipment, forklift; may work in maintenance shop or outside; environment may be drafty, noisy, and dirty; may be exposed to extreme noise and electrical hazards.
  • May work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.
Compensation & Benefits

California: Hiring hourly range: $46.35 - $49.65 (hourly rate set by Union CBA). This position includes a competitive benefits package with various accruals, holidays, leave, 401K, disability, FSA/HSA, insurance options, and wellness programs. Equal Opportunity Employer.
