Job Description

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Building Intelligence Engineer based in the New York metro area to join our team and help ensure our clients' buildings are effectively integrated with our solutions.

With your engineering background and expertise in HVAC automation/control systems, you will work closely with our Sales & Operations teams to ensure that all buildings in our portfolio are properly quoted, set up, and optimized throughout their lifecycle. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct on-site assessments of client buildings to estimate initial savings, integration costs, and the benefits of our services
  • Use modeling tools to analyze energy savings potential, based on on-site assessments, historical utility data, mechanical specs, building drawings, and current control sequences
  • Oversee the installation and setup phases, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget while keeping clients informed throughout
  • Establish communication between our software platform and field controllers/devices in client buildings, and work with our programming team to test control sequences that reduce energy waste
  • Complete final commissioning and sign-off of systems to ensure all requirements for both our service and client incentive programs are met
  • Manage the incentive application and procurement process for our clients
  • Interview building staff to understand current control protocols and challenges
  • Support the sales team with market insights, contacts, and proposal development
  • Act as a local technical resource for the service delivery team for buildings that are live in the system
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to provide ongoing support to customers after installation
  • Stay informed on local incentive programs, including eligibility and requirements for our services
  • Build and maintain relationships with local electrical, mechanical, and controls contractors
  • Oversee the procurement of necessary hardware and services from contractors
  • Contribute to optimizing systems and processes for the NYC market
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on New York’s Local Law 97 and other relevant local policies and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An academic background in Engineering, with a focus on HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering
  • 1-5 years of experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Energy auditing and/or energy services
  • MEP Engineering
  • Controls/Building Automation
  • Familiarity with energy incentive programs
  • Ability to travel to client sites across New York’s five boroughs
  • A desire to grow, learn, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment
  • A quick learner who can apply new knowledge with minimal guidance, and continually seeks to improve processes
  • A strong focus on efficiency and process optimization, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving gaps
  • Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following:
  • Experience working with MEP drawings, including controls drawings
  • Experience managing installation or retrofit projects
  • Familiarity with building automation systems
  • Experience with Niagara Tridium products and applications
