Job Description

A certified School Counselor is sought to support students across both elementary (K-5) and high school (grades 9-12) levels within a K-12 educational setting in Detroit, MI. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY), offering an opportunity to impact student success and well-being throughout various stages of their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students in grades K-5 and 9-12
• Assist high school students in academic planning, ensuring they remain on track for graduation
• Support students in monitoring credits and course requirements
• Help with student scheduling to align with academic goals and graduation requirements
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to address student needs and promote a positive school climate

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan School Counselor Certification required
• Experience working with students across multiple age groups, including elementary and high school
• Strong knowledge of academic credit tracking and graduation requirements for grades 9-12
• Effective communication and organizational skills
