Job Summary

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and performance of plant systems and equipment. This role requires a strong background in electrical components and instrumentation. The Technician will assist with troubleshooting, repair, and replacement to ensure optimal plant performance. This individual will contribute to the achievement of plant goals, representing the organization in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support all safety, health, environmental, and quality initiatives in accordance with company policies.
  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Utilize the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to reduce downtime, optimize performance, and extend the lifespan of assets.
  • Record parts used for work orders in the CMMS system.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on electrical components, instruments, computer/PLC-controlled systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with electrical and mechanical programs on personal computers.
  • Manage PLC hardware and programming duties.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot DCS hardware.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and P&ID prints.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to complete scheduled work.
  • Ensure that the plant and grounds are kept clean and operating efficiently.
  • Participate in plant projects as needed.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations related to maintenance activities.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Maintain a high level of service and performance and contribute to a cooperative team environment focused on creative problem-solving and shared learning.
  • Protect confidentiality regarding company records and matters.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be a certified electrician in the state of Nebraska.
  • Technical certification or degree in electrical or instrumentation-related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical/instrumentation maintenance or relevant education.
  • Prior maintenance experience in an industrial environment is required, ideally in manufacturing or similar industries.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication, organizational, time-management, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Abilities Required

  • Ability to work on a rotating on-call schedule for weekends and holidays.
  • Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders, including heights up to 200 feet.
  • Ability to work while standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work in environments with dust, chemicals, and other substances.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
  • Capable of communicating using a 2-way radio system.
  • Must be able to support emergency issues 24/7 as part of the on-call rotation, including working outside of regular hours as necessary.
