Job Description

Position Overview:

The Estimator will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, analyzing project documents, and collaborating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive and competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and documents to prepare precise cost estimates.
• Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to identify the most cost-effective options.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Develop thorough estimates considering all allowances, contingencies, and escalation factors.
• Coordinate estimate reviews with team members across departments.
• Track historical cost data to support future project budgeting.
• Provide and present cost estimates to various stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without sacrificing quality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, scheduling, and codes.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); Bluebeam experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred but not required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial and/or multi-family construction estimating for projects valued between $1M and $20M.
• 5+ years of experience negotiating pricing, scopes, and materials.
• Exceptional math and computational skills.
• 3+ years of experience in asphalt/paving
