As a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in fabrication and sheet metal, you will play a crucial role in supporting production needs by programming and supporting all fabrication equipment. This role will be responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality, and responsibilities will include specifying fabrication equipment needs, implementing new equipment, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Metal Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage projects from concept to completion, providing technical support and training to production staff. Expertise in CNC programming, sheet metal fabrication, and lean manufacturing principles will be essential in driving continuous improvement and achieving production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
  • Collaborate with production to ensure efficient manufacturing processes
  • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
  • Trouble shoot and resolve production program/equipment issues related to fabrication and sheet metal in a timely manner
  • Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members
  • Program parts for production and support CNC machines, laser cutters, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment, while ensuring all fabrication processes comply with safety and quality regulations
  • Develop and optimize equipment and machine programs to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Identify and specify the need for new fabrication equipment
  • Oversee the implementation and integration of new equipment into the production process
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify areas of improvement
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase productivity
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fabrication processes
  • Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, production, safety, and quality assurance
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on fabrication equipment and processes
  • Stay up to date on the latest fabrication technologies and industry trends
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication processes, equipment maintenance, and production metrics
  • Prepare reports on production performance and process improvement

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field desired, or equivalent qualification or a combination of job-related education. Manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial Engineer preferred
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, or in a similar role with a combination of education and hands on experience with fabrication environments desired
  • Preferred experience includes working with press brakes, CNC machining, lasers, saws, and fixture design
  • Prior offline programming experience is a must
  • Project management and execution (proposal creation, scheduling, budget tracking)
  • Robotic welding, programming, and troubleshooting robots. Fanuc experienced preferred
  • Ability to assemble and troubleshoot mechanical systems preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office desired
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to follow-through with attention to detail
  • Strong leadership, training, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems & processes
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes & procedures
  • Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment
