Job Description

Join Our Team as a Marine Engineer!

Are you passionate about marine engineering and looking for an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects in the maritime industry? We are seeking a talented Marine Engineer to join our small, dynamic team. If you have a knack for solving engineering challenges and a love for working on various types of vessels, we want to hear from you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you'll collaborate with marine engineers, naval architects, and designers to tackle engineering challenges. You'll work on projects involving ships, yachts, tugs, pleasure boats, passenger vessels, and more.
  • Your responsibilities will include creating engineering drawings and schematics for both new construction and refit projects, designing systems, routing piping, and specifying equipment appropriate for each vessel type and service.
  • You'll also manage projects by creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating with technical vendors, and attending project meetings.
  • Additionally, you'll handle the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process.
  • Some travel and fieldwork will be required, so you'll need to be comfortable working safely aboard ships and in shipyard environments, including climbing ladders and navigating walkways, gangways, and confined spaces.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with machinery and systems aboard commercial ships, workboats, tug/barges, passenger vessels, and yachts.
  • A working knowledge of shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as classification society and Coast Guard requirements.
  • Propulsion and steering design knowledge.
  • AutoCAD competency.
  • Valid driver's license, passport, and TWIC card (or the ability to obtain them).
  • You must currently be able to work in the United States.

Education & Experience:

  • We're looking for candidates with at least 5 years of experience in the maritime industry with marine systems design.
  • A bachelor's degree in marine engineering or Naval Architecture is required, or a bachelor's degree in engineering with marine industry experience.
  • Experience in shipyard newbuild or repair engineering, construction, or project management is also necessary.
  • You'll need experience with class and USCG submittal and approval processes, 2D/3D piping systems and equipment arrangement and routing, and knowledge of hydraulics, controls, and/or electrical systems.
  • Shipboard ventilation and HVAC design and installation knowledge is a plus, as is design experience relating to marine structures.
  • An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate, a USCG license, and time sailing on a license would be strong considerations.
  • Experience with Rhino or ShipConstructor software is also beneficial.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team and working together to create innovative and efficient marine solutions. Apply now and be a part of our mission to advance marine engineering!
