The Maritime Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects related to marine structures, vessels, and offshore installations.
The Maritime Project Engineer must understand Classification Society rules and documents, USCG rules and documents, and the overall inspection process.
This role requires a broad knowledge of the fabrication, assembly, erection, outfitting, and delivery of steel and aluminum fabricated items and involves coordinating with naval architects, marine engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure the successful execution of marine projects.
The candidate must be computer literate, comply with all safety procedures and guidelines, and follow all company-issued policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. The candidate must also have an excellent work ethic, including attendance, punctuality, and the desire to complete designated work in a timely fashion.
Qualifications/Education/Experience \n - Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
\n - Familiarity with Classification Society rules (ABS, DNV, USCG, etc.)
\n - Must have at least 5 years' experience in the planning and building of marine vessels.
\n - Must have a good knowledge of shipbuilding processes used throughout all stages of vessel construction.
\n - Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Ship Constructor, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
\n - Some knowledge and experience of managing subcontractors.
\n - Ability to follow shop schedules and plan the work accordingly.
\n - Ability to read, understand and develop blueprints and assembly drawings.
\n - Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management.
\n - Must be detail-oriented, possess good organizational skills, and be able to accomplish the required assignments within the designated time frames.
\n - Must possess a willingness to learn new techniques.
\n - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities \n - Ensure design compliance with maritime regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.
\n - Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
\n - Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for marine structures and systems.
\n - Ensure that all VFI and/or CFI is delivered to the engineering department to support project design.
\n - Develop purchasing specifications for use by the purchasing department for procurement of materials, services, and long-lead-time marine equipment required for project execution.
\n - Assist the engineering department with the completion of packages on schedule.
\n - Monitor project design progress and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and deviations from the project plan.
\n - Foster effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
\n - Liaise with classification societies, regulatory bodies, and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with maritime regulations and industry standards.
\n - Provide regular project updates and reports to superiors, including progress, milestones, and issues encountered.
\n - Provide technical support throughout the construction, installation, and commissioning of assigned projects.
\n - Assist in the coordination of Sea Trials with the Ship Supervisor and Quality Control.

Physical Demands \n - The employee must have correctable vision to 20/40 , however contact lenses are not permitted in certain production area positions.
\n - The employee must pass the Ishihara test for color blindness and have the ability to read and understand safety symbols and colors, (i.e. red, yellow, green, etc.).
\n - The employee must pass a pulmonary function exam for positions requiring respiratory protection.
\n - The employee must be able to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, or climb stairs or a ladder.
\n - The employee must be able to perform overhead work, as necessary, with a full range of motion.
\n - The employee must not be claustrophobic and may be required to work in confined spaces.
\n - The employee must have the capability to maneuver through openings as small as 18 inches by 23 inches, and would need to be able to move and crawl into awkward positions.
\n - The employee must be able to work in static positions for extended periods of time.
\n - The employee must have good balance and the capability of standing on each foot for a period of 30 seconds or more.
\n - The employee must not have a fear of heights and may be required to work in an elevated environment (which could include heights of more than 50 feet) on scaffolding, from staging, planking, or a mechanical lift.
\n - The employee must be able to carry tools and or equipment to their designated work area. They could include but are not limited to the tools associated with their trade, or others as designated by their responsibilities. The approximate weight could be as much as 75 pounds.

Work Demands \n - The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to respirator, hardhat, face shield, safety goggles, safety shoes (steel toe), safety harness, gloves or other protective clothing as determined by a Senesco Marine Job Hazard Analysis.
\n - The employee must report all accidents or injuries to their supervisor and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.
\n - The employee must report to their supervisor any and all damages to equipment or broken and misused tools.
\n - The employee may be working in several different areas and environments; this includes work inside and outside of buildings or structures.
\n - The employee needs to work at a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines.
