Are you a skilled analyst with expertise in Tableau and Excel? Join our boutique firm as a Market Research Analyst and be at the forefront of providing industry and investor clients with valuable insights into the mobile computing market. With a focus on smartphone, tablet, and wearable sales, we empower our clients with actionable data and comprehensive reports that drive strategic decision-making.

As a member of our small and dynamic team, you will work both remotely and from our offices in the vibrant Old Oakland district. Your role will involve conducting primary qualitative research, analyzing data, and producing research reports that reveal the macro and micro trends shaping the US mobile industry. This fast-paced position requires critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to meet time-sensitive demands from both our management and clients.

At BayStreet, we are a big data company, and our Market Research Analysts work extensively with small and large datasets to monitor and report industry trends. Leveraging your strong interest in data analysis and consumer behavior, you will work both independently and collaboratively to generate data-centric reports and uncover the underlying insights behind the numbers. You should possess 2-3 years of relevant experience, and we welcome a passion for mobile technology and dedication to data-driven decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct grassroots surveys to gather qualitative data on consumer demand from retailers nationwide.
  • Analyze and synthesize proprietary and third-party data to identify emerging trends.
  • Craft written insights and commentary to simplify and explain complex trends for our clients.
  • Monitor market news, analyze macroeconomic and industry data, and stay abreast of current and long-term trends.
  • Perform due diligence through sources such as SEC filings, press releases, trade publications, research notes, and conference calls.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree with a solid GPA from a reputable four-year institution.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to build error-minimizing processes.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine desire to understand the forces driving data trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening and perceptive non-verbal communication.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to distill data into concise concepts.
  • Capacity to digest and synthesize substantial volumes of information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills for multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Self-starter mindset, taking ownership of projects and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative spirit to thrive within our small team environment and contribute to quality research.
  • Proficiency in Tableau - not just using dashboards but actually creating compelling visualizations from complex datasets
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups and shortcuts for managing large datasets.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Experience in consumer, market, or financial research.
  • Advanced Excel skills for manipulating and presenting complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with complex modeling and data crunching systems, openness to new technologies.
  • Professional experience with data visualization, particularly using Tableau.

We offer a competitive compensation band of $65,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience, a performance bonus of up to 25% of base salary, health insurance, 401K, and Commuter Benefit options. Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your interest in the position and how it aligns with your career goals.

PLEASE NOTE: This role does not offer visa sponsorship or support for H-1B, OPT, or other work visas. Candidates must already possess valid work authorization to be eligible for this position.
