We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to become a part of the ASAS Health team powered by Alpine Physician Partners! This position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Responsibilities include effectively utilizing ICD 10, CPT, HPCPS, modifiers and/or other codes according to coding guidelines; creating claims and transferring to third-party payers utilizing the correct forms; conducting audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is accurate and precise; managing the status of accounts and identifying inconsistencies; maintaining appeal and denials; posting payments and adjusting accounts appropriately. Qualifications include minimum 3 years experience in medical billing and coding; excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact; beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills; flexibility in regard to job duties and assignments; willingness to cross train within other departments within your scope of duties; ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment; culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations; working knowledge of “Universal Precautions,” always demonstrates professionalism; possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA; bilingual English/Spanish and/or other languages strongly preferred; valid Texas Driver’s License, insurance, and ability to travel as required to perform duties. Education required is High School Diploma or GED; certification preferred.
