Summary:

This person will perform various duties of the Medical Information Department as assigned by the department director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Adhere to requirements of the organization's policies and procedures that are both patient focused (clinical) and organizational focused (administrative). Adheres to HIPAA regulations and policies.

Maintains the security of patient electronic/written records.

Demonstrate a desire to set and meet objectives and to find increasingly efficient ways to perform tasks.

Mail initial certifications daily to the attending physicians.

Tracks and follows-up on the initial certifications that are not received from the attending physicians.

Files and maintains tickler for initial certifications and admission consents. Demonstrates the ability to cover the task of daily mail.

Audits the Initial Care Plan Review and Medical Directors Initial Certification documents on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

Education / Certification

Associate's degree in Health Information preferred

Experience

Medical office

HIPAA knowledge

Physical Demands:

Typical office setting. May experience eye and repetitive motion strain from work on computer.

Position requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching along with a normal range of hearing and vision.

Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, mobile device, phone, copier, scanner, printer, or related items.

Environmental Conditions:

May be called upon to work beyond the normal workday.

Must have good personal hygiene and adhere to corporate dress policy.
