FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Pay: $21.49 - $27.94 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary: Assist eye care providers in the care of patients and flow of clinical activities. Assist eye care provider in procedure, operating a femtosecond laser used for cataract surgeries. Prepare laser and enter patient information before procedure. Transport patient in surgery bed from pre-op to laser room, then to operating room. This is a shared role between clinic and assisting with laser cataract surgery.
Responsibilities: - Under the direct supervision of eye care provider, operate a LenSx laser system used for cataract surgeries.
- Order intraocular lenses for multiple cataract surgeons.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with the Operating Room team to manage patient flow and provide an excellent patient experience.
- Provide a warm and empathetic environment for patients having eye surgery.
- Under the direct supervision of eye care provider, assists with performing patient care. Demonstrate proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies.
- Performs basic ophthalmic testing procedures, diagnostic testing, administration of medications and tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
- Assists with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of provider.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements: - High School diploma or GED. Ophthalmic Medical Assisting Independent Study Course or JCAHPO Career Advancement Tool (JCAT) within two years of hire.
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 30 days of hire or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Minimum Experience: None required.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
