PLC/HMI Programmer – Automation & Controls Engineering
Join a dynamic engineering team delivering innovative automation solutions to diverse industrial and commercial clients . The PLC/HMI Programmer plays a critical role in the design, programming, and commissioning of control systems, working closely with engineers and consultants to ensure projects meet high standards of functionality and reliability .
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop PLC programs using Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000) platforms and associated HMI interfaces (including Allen-Bradley and other HMI platforms).
Troubleshoot and support control system commissioning , addressing software design errors and optimizing system performance.
Apply knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control systems to support effective automation solutions.
Interpret blueprints , wiring diagrams , and device datasheets to validate system designs.
Implement and follow customer-specific standards for controls design.
Collaborate with mechanical design , shop trades , and clients to ensure seamless project integration.
Ensure engineering compliance with client specifications and maintain clear project documentation .
Participate in the standardization of software tools and modules under supervision from the Software Engineering Supervisor .
Track and manage project timelines , design updates , and compliance standards , including coordination with outsourced contributors.
Maintain familiarity with Windows operating systems and relevant engineering software tools.
Ensure adherence to safety , environmental , and quality system protocols , contributing to a culture of continuous improvement .
Proficiently use Microsoft Office applications , including Outlook , Word , Excel , and PowerPoint .
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Science , or related field; OR
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in PLC/HMI programming and controls engineering ; OR
Equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Preferred Experience:
Exposure to Siemens PLCs and alternative programming languages .
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to independently interpret and implement technical documentation and instructions from various formats (written, oral, diagrams).
Solid understanding of control system integration , automation standards , and project management basics.
