About the Role: UPS Industrial Services is in search of an industrial QC Technician in Chalmette, LA. The successful candidate will be capable of reading and understanding P&ID’s and isometric drawings. QC Technician is responsible for quality of assigned area of project, including documentation requirements - client, company, and other; weld/flange tracking, welder certifications/performance, NDE requirements, Code work, etc. Must maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner, and ensures employees comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits. This is a local maintenance project and does not pay per-diem so the ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of Chalmette, LA. The shifts are 5x8's Monday - Friday.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass drug screen.
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Must have a valid TWIC card.
• Must be able to pass a physical and PFT/FIT test.
• Must have above average leadership abilities and be able to lead by example.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have transportation to and from job site.

Responsibilities:

• Be familiar and be able to interpret the results of various NDE methods such as PT, MT, UT and RT.
• Deal with AI, client reps. and third party inspectors.
• Be proficient in the testing of assembled vessels by pumping water or gas under specified pressure into vessels and observing the vessels and instruments for evidence of leakage.

Job Duties & Essential Functions: :

• Must be able to do evaluation of flanged connections to conform to B31.3 surface imperfections and to B16.5, B16.47 dimensional tolerances.
• Must be familiar with and versed in the evaluation of material MTR's.
• Must have knowledge in proper flange assembly and bolt torturing techniques.
• Must be able to evaluate and document the proper assembly of Heat Exchangers /Condensers, Piping systems, Towers, Drums / Reactors and Column Internals / Externals, and the ability to identify and confirm the proper placement of Exchanger / Condenser components, Tower and drum tray sections, hardware and screens.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to converse with customer engineering contacts as well as craft and supervision.
• Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees.
• Must be willing to comply with company safety policy and/or any related OSHA/ANSI standard regarding proper wearing of PPE, safe work practices, etc.
• Must be able to select proper equipment for any given job. With the knowledge in Safe and Proper Equipment set up.
• Must be willing to work for extended hours and willing to work over their scheduled shift, if required. Able to work days or nights.
• Must be willing to perform other duties as may be required by Field Supervision. Follow oral and written directions.
• Perform all other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience:

• This position requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 96 months experience in the petro-chemical industry is preferred.
• 36 months experience as field QC is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push/pull 100 pounds occasionally.
• Capable of lifting heavy loads throughout the day up to 75 lbs.
• Use repetitive hand motions.

Mental Requirements

• Requires considerable concentration and focus. It is subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and workload.
• Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolong mental effort.
• Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
• Normal complexity of decision making.

Equipment Used:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Viewpoint, SharePoint).
• Proficient with using the telephone, copier, scanner and printer.

Working Environment:

• Outdoor/Plant Environment
