Overview: Operates and maintains equipment and takes radiographs of various portions of the body to assist radiologist in detection of foreign bodies and diagnosis of disease and injuries Positions patients under machine and regulates controls May perform x-ray examinations under sterile, surgical conditions May also process exposed film by automatic developer or hand tank solution A Level II Radiologic Technologist provides healthcare customer services to patients, families and guests of all ages. Radiologic Technologist II maintains credentials and skills of multiple modalities. A radiologic technologist II performs radiographic procedures and related techniques producing diagnostic imaging information for the interpretation by and at the request of a licensed practitioner . The Radiologic Technologist Level II exercises professional judgment in performance of services while maintaining a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Level II technologists are required to control and maintain a safe examination and working environment. A Radiologic Technologist II must be licensed by the State of Arkansas and the ARRT registry is preferred. Responsibilities: Utilizes technique charts for technique formulation. Processes x-ray film. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports, including charge coding, requisition and x-ray folder documentation. Assists in maintaining files including charting, finding records and/or pulling x-ray folders. Initializes work. Adds pertinent information to requisition concerning Radiation Safety, clinical information, procedural notes. Correctly completes procedure information in Meditech on all pts; including NP charges Can correctly burn a CD Has knowledge of policies and functions of other departments. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatrics, geriatric and general population. Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure. Selects and operates radiography equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories successfully. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest. Determines radiographic technique for appropriate examination. Evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Performs venipuncture if trained. Injects contrast materials under direct (in house) supervision. Verifies informed consent for invasive procedures. Performs non-interpretative fluoroscopic procedures as appropriate and consistent with quality control testing. Complies with NARMC HIPAA Privacy and Security policies. Understands responsibility to report issues with privacy, fraud and abuse, compliance and ethical conduct. Reports equipment malfunction immediately. Assists in providing ambulatory, wheelchair and/or stretcher transportation of patients using safe and good body mechanics. Assists physicians in performance of examinations .,holding and turning patients,, and other related duties as required. Fulfills work assignments in a timely manner. Provides patient education and appropriate documentation. Provides post procedure communication to patients. Communicates appropriately and completely with Radiologist(s) concerning procedures and patient care. Communicates and works together with the Imaging Services Nurses for Infection Control, patient care and patient education policy and procedures. Correctly uses sterile technique procedures. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of room equipment and personnel. Correctly utilizes Biomedical disposal techniques and able to state what material are appropriate for biohazard disposal. Secures and returns supplies, maintains room stock. Assists Radiology students in the practice of radiographic clinical education. (Instruction, observation and documentation) Quantity of work, ( level of productivity ) Effectively communicates and works with supervisors. Daily reviews bulletin board . Identifies each patient and order beforehand . Qualifications: Education: Completion of a recognized program of Radiological Science and Technology Must have a copy of a diploma or offical transcript of the highest level of education Degrees, Licensures and/or Certifications: Must possess an Arkansas Radiologic Technologist License BLS required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: If Registry eligible applicant will be required to successfully complete the registry process within one year. American Registry of Radiological Technologists is preferred. Meets the continuing education requirements established by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
