Position Summary: District Manager is accountable for building the overall organizational capability and profitability of their designated geographic area under the direction of the Director of Operations. They will supervise the activities and results of 4-8 restaurants. This person should be self-motivated, highly energetic with a positive attitude and display a work ethic that role models their expectations for their direct reports. This position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgement in the performance of various duties. For FMLA purposes, this is a key position within the company.
Requirements
Multi-Unit Supervisory experience: 1-5 years preferably in a food service environment
Time Management: Area managers work with multiple stores across a large region, driving many miles to coordinate in-store visits and spending time with Restaurant Managers. Depending on the specific area time away from home is possible.
Thorough knowledge of restaurant operational performance standards and metrics.
Good business math and accounting skills
Good oral/written communication skills
Basic computer skills: operating Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Leadership: Demonstrated track record of workplace achievement in the recruiting, selection, coaching and development of management and team members through execution of existing training processes.
Highly Self Driven
Planning/organizational skills
Proven ability to drive customer satisfaction, financial performance and employee staffing/training
Decision Making/Problem Solving Ability: Whether dealing with employees, management or vendors, area manager/coach will have to make decisions that affect the company. The ability to make hard and fast decisions is critical to success.
Expected Hours and peak Periods
The duties you perform will require you to work whatever hours are needed to ensure the success of your team. Expectation is that you “Act like an Owner”. Building strong restaurant management teams within your area will help ensure your quality of life.
This position is both supervisory and administrative in nature. Your calendar will need to reflect that balance with time spent in the field. Conducting leadership meetings for your team as well as attending Regional Leadership meetings yourself is expected. Calendar will be communicated to the Director of Operations each month.
Core Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Area Sales Objectives
Ensure Brand Image is maintained in each area through Restaurant Managers by ensuring the exterior of the restaurant is clean, in good condition and has “curb appeal” to draw our guests in. Involve Asset Manager when needed.
Develop and follow up on Strategic Sales Building plans for each restaurant that include Marketing Coordinator to grow year over year sales.
Through Restaurant Managers, ensure product quality and customer service standards are in place to ensure sales within the 4-Walls are captured.
When customer issues arise, Area Coaches ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business. Resolution of all 800 complaints is completed in a timely manner.
Operational Excellence
Thorough knowledge of restaurant operational performance metrics, product specifications and management systems
Be a visible leader in the area, role model Sense of Urgency and personal accountability to restaurant standards of operations and SMC policies and procedures.
Follow up on the execution of common work methods and restaurant processes.
Participate in regular unit visits to hold managers accountable for operational standards. Include Director of Operations and Leadership team as occasions warrant.
Build “A” Teams
Accomplishes Area Human Resources objectives through restaurant managers
Recruiting selection, orientation, training, assigning roles, scheduling, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees in assigned region.
Communicate job expectation, planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions
Planning and reviewing compensation actions
Enforcing actions on Performance improvement plans, IDP development activities and policy violations
Ensure recognition culture is being leveraged to drive performance
Ensure Restaurant Profitability
Meets area financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions with urgency.
Assist in setting restaurant budgets to ensure operations are driving the goal of profitability
Reviews restaurant results daily/weekly and communicates recognition/coaching as needed to drive results of the overall team
Conduct regular business reviews with restaurant managers
Ensure area/restaurant processes are in place to drive each restaurant profitabiity.
Other Activities
Be part of the big picture – ensure you and your managers assist with new restaurant openings, etc.
Communicate BDP’s, share things that move the brand forward
Pay will be commensurate with experience
