Position Description: Reporting to the Executive Director of Health and Social Services in the Student Support Unit, the SBHC Receptionist is responsible for coordinating the scheduling of appointments, performing clinical duties, and assisting in maintaining the Health Center environment.
Reports To: Executive Director of Health and Social Services
Scope of Responsibility: - Supervises and maintains a safe, clean and efficient health center environment.
- Performs property and inventory control duties as assigned by the Health Center Coordinator, RN, Medical Director/Physician(s) and/or Mental Health Professional.
- Determines the need for and requisitions supplies for the Health Center under direction of the RN and as approved by the Health Center Coordinator.
- Compiles cost records, copies of requisitions and purchase orders to be submitted to the Health Center Coordinator; receive and verify all incoming shipments of merchandise.
- Performs clerical duties, including the scheduling of appointments, contacting parents, answering the telephone and screening telephone calls to the Health Center Staff, making copies, filing student records and operating office equipment.
- Identifies the reason for a patient visit and performs a valuable triage function in matching patients with the proper care provider, including facilitating student access to the RN and Mental Health Professional.
- Prepares special reports, assembles data from Health Center Sources, and compiles and tabulates data in final format to be submitted to the Health Center Coordinator.
- Bills for services to Medicaid/LaChip and KIDMED
- Enters into the computer for all services rendered using the Health Center Coding System and Clinical Fusion Software.
- Drives SBHC van to pick up students and parents from other schools.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Health & Social Services
Skills and Qualifications: - High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Three (3) years experience in general office work and use of computers. ? Excellent communication skills.
- Establish and maintain accurate records
- Knowledge of word processing program
Desirable Qualifications: - Working knowledge of the organization and administration of the school system and school based health centers.
Physical Involvement: Sitting is required part of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
