A School Psychologist conducts psychological assessments and develops individualized education plans (IEPs) to support students' academic, social, and emotional needs. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide crisis support and training for school staff, and maintain detailed documentation of student progress. This role requires proper certification and a commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive school environment.

School Psychologist Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychological Assessments : Conduct comprehensive evaluations of cognitive, emotional, adaptive, and behavioral functioning using a range of standardized tests.
  • IEP & 504 Plan Support : Develop and consult on individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans based on assessment data. Create evidence-based interventions and strategies.
  • Crisis Support & Training : Provide crisis support during emergencies and offer training to school staff on mental health, behavior management, and instructional strategies.
  • Documentation & Reporting : Maintain accurate, confidential records of assessments, interventions, and progress. Prepare detailed reports for IEP meetings, evaluations, and other necessary documentation.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration : Actively participate in team meetings to review and plan student interventions.

School Psychologist Qualifications:

  • Certification:  Department of Education School Psychologist Certification in the state where services are delivered
  • Background Check:  Criminal Background Check and TB Clearance
  • Eligibility to Work: Eligibility to work in the US
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Certification from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
    • Prior experience working as a school psychologist

School Psychologist Physical Demands:

  • Environment : Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Activity : Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Sensory : Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
