Job Description

OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN/EYECARE ASSISTANT

Blaine, MN | Full-Time | $18+/hour (based on experience)

ABOUT US ............................................................................................................

We’re a trusted optometry clinic built on word-of-mouth referrals and high-quality care. Patients come back to us year after year because we combine advanced technology, expert service, and a warm, personalized approach to every appointment. We don’t compete on trying to be the cheapest—we focus on doing what’s right for each patient and supporting our team like family.

ABOUT THE ROLE ................................................................................................

As an Optometric Technician, you’ll be right in the action—supporting patients through their eye care journey, working closely with doctors, and learning new skills every day. It’s hands-on, fast-moving, and incredibly rewarding. If you’re motivated, friendly, and ready to grow, this is your chance to shine in a role that makes a real difference.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES ....................................................................................

As part of our technician team, you’ll work side-by-side with our doctors to deliver comprehensive, compassionate eye care. Your day will be fast-paced, detail-driven, and full of opportunities to support both patients and providers. You’ll be trusted to work independently, but always with the support of a collaborative and experienced team behind you.

  • Perform accurate pre-testing and patient workups before exams
  • Maintain up-to-date and detailed medical health records
  • Assist chairside during exams, offering smooth, efficient support
  • Scribe in real time for doctors during patient evaluations
  • Conduct specialized diagnostic testing as directed
  • Provide clear patient education and post-exam instructions
  • Coordinate referrals and schedule follow-up care
  • Order and manage contact lens supplies
  • Assist fellow technicians to keep clinic flow running smoothly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked clinical work area
  • Proactively support the team by jumping in where needed

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT ........................................................................

  • Organized, efficient, and detail-oriented
  • Friendly, patient-focused, and able to connect with people
  • A confident communicator and active listener
  • A multitasker who thrives under pressure
  • Computer savvy and open to learning new technology
  • Receptive to feedback and driven to improve daily
  • Someone who works well independently and as a team player

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE ..............................................................................

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in optometry is a plus
  • CPO certification is a bonus—but not required (we’ll help you pursue it!)

CAREER GROWTH STARTS HERE ......................................................................

This role offers more than daily variety—it offers real skill-building and long-term opportunity. As a technician, you’ll develop expertise in patient care, medical documentation, diagnostic technology, and patient education. With mentorship, ongoing training, and optional certification support, we’ll help you grow into a valued, knowledgeable professional within our clinic and the vision care field.

OUR BENEFITS ...................................................................................................

  • Competitive pay + bonus structure
  • Fixed work schedule, (35-40 hours per week) with option for 4 or 5 day work week
  • Rotating Saturdays required, 8 AM - 12 PM
  • Six paid holidays, closed major holidays
  • Up to 80 PTO hours/year (more after 1st year)
  • Earned Sick & Safe Leave up to 48 hrs/year
  • Medical insurance + HSA options
  • Aflac optional benefits
  • IRA with company match
  • FSA for medical/dependent care
  • Eyecare service provided by our staff
  • Ongoing training & skill development
  • Annual uniform allowance
  • Birthday, anniversary & fun perks
  • SmartDollar account for financial wellness
  • Discounted optical, contact lens products & services for staff & their families

READY TO JUMP IN? ........................................................................................

If you love people, working hard, and are eager to grow in a clinical setting, this is your chance to make a real impact—every day.
