Description We are seeking a talented, multifaceted
Art Director to join our creative team in New York. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in both photo shoot direction and graphic design. The ideal candidate will bring a creative eye to oversee photoshoots while also providing guidance on graphic design projects to maintain consistency and elevate brand aesthetics. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Photo Shoot Direction: - Work in coordination with CD to concept and plan out photo and video shoots.
- Lead and direct photo shoots, ensuring the creative vision is executed effectively and aligns with brand standards.
- Collaborate with photographers, stylists, and models to ensure the visual story aligns with project objectives.
- Provide creative direction on set, making real-time adjustments to lighting, composition, styling, and mood.
- Coordinate logistics and manage timelines for shoots to ensure efficient and smooth execution.
- Create retouching notes and work with post-production teams to oversee the editing process and ensure final images meet brand standards.
Graphic Design Direction: - Collaborate with the design team to set creative direction and develop design concepts for various print, digital, and social media materials.
- Provide feedback and guidance to junior designers, helping to elevate the design quality and consistency across projects.
- Ensure that design work adheres to brand guidelines while bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the table.
- Develop layouts, typography, and visual compositions that align with campaign goals and brand identity.
- Oversee the production of design assets from concept to final delivery.
Collaboration & Communication: - Work closely with creative director, marketing teams, and other departments to ensure design and photo concepts align with overall business objectives.
- Present and communicate design concepts and photography ideas to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
- Balance multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - 3-5 years of experience in art direction, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in both photo shoot direction and graphic design.
- Proven ability to lead photo shoots, including directing talent, styling, and overseeing the entire creative process.
- Strong understanding of graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and composition.
- Must have mastery of Figma. Especially desirable is experience building design systems within Figma.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and work within a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to translate creative visions into tangible outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in both digital and print mediums.
- Knowledge of video production or motion design is a plus.
- Experience working with external vendors or creative agencies.
Compensation: $123,000-$145,000 annual salary. Kindthread encourages applications from candidates at all levels where pay will be based on experience.
