Get to Know Your Team: - BSA Outpatient Therapy Services is a rehabilitation facility for patients recovering from major illness or injury outside of a hospital setting. We offer various rehabilitation services, including aquatic therapy, lymphedema therapy, diabetes education, Occupational Therapy, Pediatric Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, and the area's only certified Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
Responsibilities - The Outpatient Therapy Services Case Reviewer assesses the social, psychological, cultural, environmental, and financial situations concerning the patient and family.
- Acts as a patient/family advocate, promoting rights and dignity while striving to involve the patient/family in aspects of care as appropriate.
- The Case Reviewer also facilitates the outpatient rehabilitative service needs to provide an optimal age-specific continuum of care for the populations listed below.
- Act as a patient and caregiver advocate.
- Work with the entire healthcare team to improve the quality of patient care, patient safety and customer service.
- Act as a good steward of the patient's healthcare resources and the resources of the hospital.
- Screening and assessment of patient benefits and authorization for the provision of physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, as well as cardio pulmonary rehabilitation services.
- Coordinate care to ensure consults, tests, and procedures are performed in a manner appropriate and consistent with patient choice and resources.
- Communicate in both written (in the medical record) and oral fashion all contributions to the progression of care in a way that is easily understood by the patient, the caregiver and the healthcare team.
- Use compliant and ethical behaviors to ensure that federal, state, hospital, and patient self-determinations are met.
- Ensure that community resources are readily known.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One of the following:
- RN Texas License
- License Insurance Adjuster - within 1 year of employment
- Medical Billing / Coding Certification - within 1 year of employment.
- 1-3 years of experience in a case reviewer, case manager, or equivalent benefits authorization role.
- Basic Life Support Certification - within 30 days of employment
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree.
- Previous registration, insurance authorization, and benefits management.
- Previous use of Epic or a similar EMR system.
- Prior experience with HCPCS coding and billing.
