Clinical Dietitian - Pediatric Endocrinology (Outpatient) at Presbyterian Healthcare Services summary:

The Clinical Dietitian in Pediatric Endocrinology provides specialized outpatient medical nutrition therapy to pediatric patients, collaborating with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes. This role includes patient education, nutrition interventions, clinical research involvement, and mentorship of students and new dietitians. The position requires relevant licensure, certifications, and experience in pediatric nutrition support and involves use of electronic health records and community outreach.

Overview:

Presbyterian is seeing a Clinical Dietitian to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients in an Outpatient Clinic . The Clinical Dietitian utilizes expert knowledge and skills in specialty areas, provides individualized medical nutrition therapy to assigned patient population. Provides leadership in the department by researching, implementing or designing evidence-based nutrition interventions

 

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8-hour days

Responsibilities:
  • Practices with a high degree of professional autonomy and responsibility through interdisciplinary team communication and ongoing education of team members.
  • Responsible for meeting national accreditation requirements as well as development of internal policy and procedures specific to care process.
  • May order lab tests for patients when applicable to the treatment plan for purposes patient safety and communication with providers.
  • Collaborate closely with infusion companies to ensure correct orders; supports patient and families when working through insurance issues
  • Plans, drives and promotes community-based nutrition and wellness education for population served.
  • Drives improvement and clinical research, quality and or patient safety initiatives.
  • Participates in the orientation and serves as preceptor/trainer of students and new dietitians.
  • Provides direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy.
  • Teach nutrition and healthful eating classes to patient or community groups which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Performs other functions as required.
Qualifications:

Clinical Dietitian I

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • License Dietitian-NM Reg & License (LD-NM RL)
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) 
  • BLS Certification required at time of hire .

Clinical Dietitian II

  • Master's degree required or bachelor’s with 2 years of additional experience in lieu of master’s degree
  • License Dietitian-NM Reg & License (LD-NM RN)
  • BLS Certification required at time of hire .
  • Must have one of the following
  • CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator
  • CNSC - Certified Nutrition Support Clinician
  • CSP - Certified Specialist Pediatrics
  • Successful completion of PHS Nutrition Informatics Competency
  • Successful completion of PH competency in adult parental nutrition support 

Clinical Dietitian III

  • Master's Degree required or bachelor’s with 2 years of additional experience in lieu of Master’s degree.
  • 8 years’ experience in medical nutrition therapy in area of specialty
  • Licensed Dietitian-NM Reg & License (LD-NM RL)
  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • BLS Certification required at time of hire .
  • MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Certifications in CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator),
  • CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician)
  • Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Management.
