Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our growing company. This individual will help design and develop battery monitoring and management systems, industrial battery chargers and inverters, engine starting systems, and DC back-up power systems across a wide power range (150W to 100kW). This person will be involved from concept investigation and design, through successful production launch and support of these products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain product firmware for system controllers, sensors, and accessories for power systems and battery monitors with embedded microcontrollers.
  • Perform required testing for design verification, regulatory compliance, and system integration to ensure performance and reliability under all operating conditions.
  • Specify and design production tests and equipment to support the introduction of new products into production.
  • Participate in the full life cycle of product development including requirement definition, design, implementation, test, and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or similar related field with 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in development and testing with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
  • Mastery of computer programming and scripting languages (C, C++, BASH).
  • Knowledge of board level communications (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.).
  • Experience using lab test equipment such as high-speed digital scopes, power supplies, electronic loads, voltmeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience taking a design from concept into volume production.
  • Self-starter with a mindset of solving problems.
  • Deadline driven individual with an emphasis on releasing application features to the end customer.
  • In-depth experience working in an Agile, Product Management, and DevOps software environment.
  • Flexible team player who actively establishes and maintains effective working relationships and who is willing to multi-task and help wherever needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with power electronics and analog sensors.
  • Experience with the following protocols: SNMP, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC61850.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts.

Location: This position is located on-site in Longmont, CO with the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule once fully trained.

Base Compensation: $100,000- $130,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
