As a Marine Maintenance Intern at Marathon Petroleum Company, I will gain hands-on experience in various areas of the Marine Repair Facility, including barge cleaning, electric shop tasks, motor shop maintenance, and welding. POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon Petroleum Company is offering a maintenance internship opportunity within its Marine Repair Facility (MRF) in Catlettsburg, KY. We are looking for individuals who can contribute to our inclusive work environment. The Maintenance Intern will play a role in enabling our business to make informed decisions, adapt to change, and continuously improve. They will receive meaningful hands-on experience by rotating through different areas in the MRF, such as Barge Cleaning, Electric Shop, Motor Shop, and Weld Shop.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Barge Cleaners:
Perform activities in the Boiler Area, Tank Farm, Water Treatment Plant, and Vapor Control Unit such as:
Gauge tanks.
Run hotwash pumps to supply hot water washing barges.
Run daily analysis of samples from the Waste Water Treatment Plant and boilers.
Participate in safety and training activities.
Electric Shop:
Perform tasks, or assist an Electrician performing tasks, such as:
Boat and Barge PM’s.
Equipment installation (pull wire, install new equipment, and housekeeping).
Acquire parts and materials required for the jobs.
Motor Shop:
Perform tasks such as:
Perform basic PM tasks (Ex: Change out gaskets, tighten bolts on flanges, etc.).
Visually inspect drip pans, covers, scupper plugs, and drain plugs.
Service pump engine, check air filters/change as needed.
Weld Shop:
Perform shop work tasks, such as:
Shop welding.
Cutting/fitting.
Running for parts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must hold a valid Driver’s License.
Travel up to 25% may be required.
Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
