POSITION DESCRIPTON: This individual will ensure a smooth flow of material through the facility with the use of an overhead crane, forklift and other miscellaneous equipment/tools. They will be capable of handling all aspects of shipping, receiving and storage of metal sheets, plates and/or coil. The individual will also have the opportunity to operate Coil Processing/Cut-to-Length equipment, CNC Plasma/Oxy-Fuel equipment, CNC Machining Centers and other equipment (training will be provided if needed).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS: Primary Responsibilities - Uses overhead cranes and forklifts to unload, store and stage raw material for processing. Verifies that the material is correct as ordered, follows practices and procedures as outlines in SSAB's ISO 9001 programs.
- Loads material off/onto trucks or rail cars, verifies material is correct as stated on customer's BOL/order.
- Secures material loaded on railcars.
- Responsible for daily inspections of lifting and processing equipment (when needed).
- Follows all safety rules and regulations.
Secondary Responsibilities - Operate Coil Processing/Cut-to-Length equipment.
- Operate CNC Oxy-Fuel/Plasma cutting equipment.
- Operate Oxy-Fuel Track Torch equipment.
- Operate CNC Machining Centers.
Additional Responsibilities - Assist maintenance on a volunteer basis.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience and Competencies Desired: - Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in operation of overhead cranes.
Education Required: - Minimum High School Diploma or High School Equivalent
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee will frequently be required to:
- Sit, stand, walk, alternating up to 8 hours at a time
- Use both hands for grasping, handling, gripping and feeling textures and temperatures
- Lift and/or move up to 35 lbs
The employee will occasionally be required to:
- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb
- Bend, twist at waist level, reach at and/or above shoulder level and below waist level
- Push, pull, lift, and/or carry items weighing less than 50 pounds
The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities:
- Vision at near, mid and far range and peripheral vision and depth perception
- Talking and hearing in person, on a radio, and/or in group settings
The employee will be required to use the following machines or tools:
- Desktop computer
- Hand tools
- Overhead remote operated cranes
- Oxy-fuel hand torch
The employee will work in the following conditions:
- Around equipment in motion
- Amid noise
- While wearing personal protective / safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards
- Around moving trucks and industrial mobile equipment
POSITION TYPE - WORK HOURS - TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: - Position is full time, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime
