Sr. Facilities Engineer – Derecktor Shipyards

Location: Dania, Florida

Are you passionate about the maritime industry? We are seeking a skilled Sr. Facilities Engineer to join our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routinely inspecting each facility to identify potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address their facility-related needs and provide solutions to optimize the use of space, equipment, and resources.
  • Design, coordinate, and execute capital improvement projects.
  • Track expenses and oversee the budget for capital improvements.
  • Calculate and present cost-benefit analysis for individual capital improvement projects.
  • Responsible for planning, execution, and subsequent reporting of large-scale maintenance, repair, and facility upgrades.
  • Work with the Facilities staff to repair/replace broken concrete, bulkheads, docks, piers, buildings, and waterfront infrastructure.
  • Ensure the facilities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Develop long-term Capex plans for each site with input to meet launch-term company financial goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven track record in managing facility budgets and resources.
  • Organizational and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel to other locations as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in managing maritime facilities.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and environmental constraints and ability to work with government authorities and regulators.
  • PE license is strongly preferred.
  • Facilities Engineering a plus

Minimum Education:

  • BS in Facilities Engineering Technology (FET) or BS in civil, mechanical, or structural engineering.

Work Environment Summary:

Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, exposure to noise, hazards, and confined spaces/close quarters. Applicant must be able to access all areas of the shipyard and company property including docks in all types of weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, see with close vision, and access confined spaces.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to move easily between buildings, ascend/descend ladders, and work outdoors in shipyards/marinas in all kinds of weather.
