Local route Truck Drivers (CDL A or B) are responsible for loading galley equipment onto a truck, driving the truck to various types of aircrafts, and unloading the equipment. Local CDL Truck Drivers usually drive on local public roads, outside of the airport and terminal. Main Duties and Responsibilities include loading equipment onto the truck, driving the truck to the aircraft at the local airport, loading galleys according to customer guidelines, unloading dirty equipment and placing it and trash in designated areas, interacting with airline representatives, following directions, working as a member of the Transportation team, and performing additional duties as assigned. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED preferred, up to one-year experience preferred, current U.S. driver's license, CDL Class A or B required, and possibly a Customs Seal from local airport authority. Drivers must be able to read and write to complete forms and communicate effectively. Requirements include working assigned schedules that may vary including weekends and holidays, working overtime when required, arriving on time, complying with company policies, completing paperwork, and being at least 21 years old. The work environment involves exposure to extreme temperature changes and noise, working outside in all weather conditions, lifting and moving up to 50 pounds frequently, standing, bending, lifting intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours, and working at heights up to 25 feet or more depending on aircraft.
